The success of the VETRN program, coupled with the current demand to expand its programming to veteran small business owners in other geographic markets will now be realized with VETRN and the SBA announcing virtual training to begin in August 2020 for veteran small business owners located in New England, New York and New Jersey. The next VETRN program will be held online using the Zoom Meeting platform. The online program content will be like previous cohorts in that it is designed to build operational capacity, increase revenues, manage cash flow and create sustainable jobs. VETRN has also added a module on crisis management and working with lending institutions and other stakeholders when facing financial difficulties. To qualify, the business must be veteran-owned (or someone in the immediate family is a veteran), must have been in operation for one or more years and generates at least $75,000 in annual revenues. There are exceptions, so please reach out to discuss your situation.
In March 2020, a cohort of 17 veterans and family members completed the Streetwise MBA Program held in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. To date, a total of 57 veteran small business owners and family members from Mass., Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine have graduated from the VETRN program. This Executive MBA program is offered free of tuition by VETRN, a 501(c)3, created exclusively for veterans in order to provide them with the skills, resources, mentoring and networking necessary to grow their own small business.
“It is an honor to work with so many veterans and family members to help them become successful in their growing their small businesses,” said Lee Goldberg. “Years ago, I also benefited from the type of business mentoring support that the VETRN Streetwise MBA program offers. Making the same mentoring support available to qualifying veterans and family members at no-cost has been a rewarding experience.”
“We’re pleased to have the opportunity to continue offering such an impactful program to our veteran small business owners and their families throughout the Northeast,” said Larry Stubblefield, Associate Administrator of SBA’s office of Veterans Business Development. “And now, more than ever, the SBA is dedicated to finding new and innovative ways to provide virtual support for our veteran-owned small businesses during these trying and unprecedented times.”
